World Champion D Gukesh wins rapid title at Grand Chess Tour 2025 Zagreb

World champion D Gukesh concluded his campaign with a masterful victory over Wesley So of the United States in the ninth and final round of the rapid section of the Super United Rapid and Blitz Tournament, part of the Grand Chess Tour.

After five consecutive victories on the second day, Gukesh drew two games on day three and ultimately defeated Wesley, finishing with 14 points out of a possible 18.

Overall, in the rapid section, he had two draws, one loss against Duda Jan-Kryzsztof of Poland, and six wins. With each win in the rapid section earning two points, the Indian ace now holds a significant lead over Duda, who drew his first two games and was set to draw the third one as well.
