Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, who was convicted for killing a father-son duo during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, has argued that there was no ground for a death penalty against him.

Kumar said he was almost 80 years old and had shown good conduct while behind bars since 2018, when he was sentenced to life imprisonment in another anti-Sikh riots case in Delhi Cantt. Kumar also said he never used a furlough or any other remedy during his imprisonment.

This came after Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court convicted him on February 12 of killing a father and a son in the Saraswati Vihar area on November 1, 1984.
